Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure

|
Relentless was a huge game. As Twinsen, the bizarre little savior of Twinsun, you were required to traverse both hemispheres of a massive world, visiting strange lands and meeting funny creatures. Your primary goal was to rescue your girlfriend from the clutches of the evil Dr. FunFrock, but as you investigated his evil doings, you learned there was a much greater cause at hand: saving your entire world and reviving the mystical Sendell.

Were you satisfied with the finale of Relentless?
|
It's only fitting that such an epic quest would have an epic finale. And what a finale it was. After physically defeating Dr. FunFrock in the Well of Sendell, you were treated to a lengthy cinematic sequence in which Twinsen and his girlfriend floated in a transcendental state, speaking with the spirit of Sendell.
But it didn't stop there. After the cinematic, you were treated to a huge party, rendered with the game's engine, in which all the major characters from the game danced and sang, while a statue of Twinsen was unveiled in the Town Square.
And it still didn't end there. Once the party was over and the credits were done rolling, you got a brief cinematic of Twinsen and his girlfriend at home. You got to watch through the window as they kissed, before Twinsen finally turned and closed the window, revealing the words "The End" spray-painted on the blinds.
The finale lasted several minutes, and it was among the most rewarding endings ever included in a game. The end of Twinsen's Adventure should be required viewing for anyone making a game. It was more than just an ending - it seemed like a thank-you note from the developers.
