LBA1 playable using MS Virtual PC

According to this entry on Ben Armstrong's blog LBA1 "runs very well under Virtual PC".
Ben Armstrong is the program manager of the Virtual Machine team at Microsoft.

So if you can't get LBA1 to work using DosBox or LBAwin you can give it a try with MS Vritual PC.

I wonder if it can also properly run LBA2.

Quite long reviews. The gaming magazines I used to read only had 2 to 4 pages for a review. In case of a 4 page review it was usually the month's special (yes, that includes all the screenshots).

Sanqua Experience #17

Issue 17 of the online magazie Sanqua Experience has been released. Just in case you didn't know, Sanqua Experience is a free French online magazine about computer games, but not like your average computer game review magazine. So far they featured a couple of articles about Fred and his work.

This issue features Fred twice. It contains an interview with Fred taken in December 2005. And it has a feature about the recent knighing of the three game developers.
As far as I can tell, my French isn't that good, the interview is about Fred's company Ludoïd. But also about the next-gen consoles and the future of games (I think).

So visit their site and download your copy.

Gamasutra feature on the knighting

Gamesutra has a feature on the knighting of the three game designers. This is more than just a simple news post about the three receiving a medal. They give some more attention to the gaming accomplishments of the French game developers (and not just Ancel and Raynal).

It also contain some interesting info

Game designers have been knighted

As reported earlier Michel Ancel, Frederick Raynal and Shigeru Miyamoto have me "knighted" in the Order of Arts and Letter. (Read: they received a medal.)

Jeux France has photo series on the ceremony.

So, Fred is done with being knighted. Now time for LBA3

Fred: "I really feel I owe a sequel to LBA players"

As planned for Thursday in Adventure Europe's Frederick Raynal week an interview with Frederick Raynal.

Some of the subjects of the interview are Fred's past games (Alone in the Dark and LBA) and a bit about his plans and views for the future. A big part of the interview is about how it all started with Alone in the Dark, where he got the ideas and how he worked it out.
Oh, and Fred didn't like the Alone in the Dark movie either.

Frederick Raynal (et al) to be knighted in France

Michel Ancel (Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil), Frederick Raynal (LBA, Alone in the Dark) and Shigeru Miyamoto (Mario Bros.) will be knighted the Order of Arts and Letters in France (2).
This is the first time ever game designers receive a knighthood. Apperently French knights do not get the right to right to add "Sir" to their name. So it's not "Sir Frederick Raynal" but still a great honor for these three people.

Adventure Europe is having a Frederick Raynal week this week. Just in case you didn't know, Frederick Raynal is one of the creative masterminds begind the Little Big Adventure Series.
